I haven't written anything in a while so I figure a good stating point would be a few movie reviews. Not for any other reason than I feel like writing a few reviews.
Vantage point: C
This movie aims to show a single horrific event (the assassination of the President) through the eyes of every main character. Unfortunately, it succeeds making the movie seem repetitive. While it was somewhat interesting to see more detail with each re-telling, but he assassin's shot lost it's shock value every time you heard it. I will say that it has one od the best car chases I've seen. Forrist Whittaker and Segorny Weaver put in performances that were above the material; hell most of the acing made the script and directing better than it was. All in all it wasn't a bad popcorn on a rainy day movie - if stumbled apon surfing the chanels.
Bank Job: B+/A-
This movie is exactly what it says it is: a movie about a bunch of people robbing a bank in London. It get bonus points for not being pretentious, but looses points for the barely gratuitous nudity. Typically I am for gratuitous nudity, when I expect to see it. I think that a "magic rabbit" would have served better. Though, I found the MP/dominatrix scene amusing and the strip club appropriate (though with less boobege than expected), the opening scene was a bit much. At the very least I think that It could have been done better. My date didn't like it at all; it wasn't offensive (as near as I could tell), but she was surprised to see it. I was more indifferent about it until I saw the rest of the movie. The rest of the movie was actually quite good. The characters were well written with enough depth to help with the plot. The plot twists served to help unify the various story threads and move the characters closer to the story's ultimate climax. It was also good to see Jason Stratham show a little bit more flexibility then the previous roles I've seen him in. All and all it was worth the price of admission and it would be worth a rental.
Jason X: D
It is Friday the 13th in space; what more needs to be said? A buddy of mine lent it to me so I said: "What the hell" It a campy slasher flick and that won't win it any awards, but makes it good entertainment. It didn't take itself seriously and that made it worth watching. It had many amusing scenes, but I think the best was when Cyborg Jason Vorhes gets distracted by a holographic reproduction of the summer camp that started it all.
Iron Man: A
Go see it if you haven't. It needs to be seen on the big screen. It's not a perfect movie, but it hits its stride and doesn't slow down till the end. The plot is a little weak and a it feels a little rushed at times. It is a movie based on comic what do you want. They call cant be Batman Begins. Stay for the coda after the credits - it is worth it.
Get Smart: A
This was the funniest movie I have seen in along time. We are talking Airplane!, Naked Gun type funny. Well written comedy is hard to come by these days and this was quite refreshing.
